We conduct a range of interdisciplinary research on timing processes in music performance, using audio, video, movement, and physiological data collected from performances of music styles from throughout the world. For example, the Interpersonal Entrainment in Music Performance (IEMP) project is the first large-scale research project to examine interpersonal musical entrainment from a cross-cultural perspective, while The Breath of Music comprises a case study of how physiological processes (respiration and heart rate) relate to metrical and rhythmic structures in Indian music.
