The Music Psychology Lab has a long-standing commitment to capturing the diversity of human experiences with music. Our members have contributed to major theoretical publications on the diversification of music psychology research (e.g., Jacoby et al., 2020; Jakubowski et al., 2025).
Our previous and ongoing research projects have focused on topics such as:
- Cross-cultural rhythm perception and appreciation (e.g., Ahmad et al., 2025; Jakubowski et al., 2022)
- Cross-cultural perception of musical emotions (e.g., Athanasopoulos et al., 2021; Graves et al., 2026; Lahdelma et al., 2021)
- Absolute pitch across cultures (ongoing project led by Katie Vishwanath)
- Musical memory across the lifespan (e.g. Jakubowski et al., 2020; Jakubowski et al., 2021)
- Musical engagement in people with ADHD (ongoing project led by Anthi Georgiadou)
